Third-party notices
Last updated 22 September 2026.
CineDrive includes FFmpeg, used under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. The same notice appears in the app, under Settings.
FFmpeg
CineDrive includes FFmpeg (ffmpeg.org), used under the LGPL v2.1 or later, to convert films the phone cannot play as they are. The build script and configuration are in the CineDrive repository.
The build is configured as LGPL only. It excludes components licensed under the GPL and anything marked non-free, and it is limited to the decoders, encoders and format handlers the conversion step actually needs.
Video encoding uses Apple's VideoToolbox through FFmpeg rather than a software encoder.
A copy of the LGPL v2.1 is published by the Free Software Foundation at gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/lgpl-2.1.html.
Relinking
The LGPL allows someone who has the application to replace the covered library with their own version of it. If you want the FFmpeg build configuration, or the object files needed to relink CineDrive against a different build of FFmpeg, write to support@grcsac.com and we will provide them.
Everything else
The rest of CineDrive is written by GRCSAC and uses Apple's own frameworks, which are covered by your agreement with Apple rather than by a separate licence from us. If a further third-party component is added later, it will be listed on this page before that version ships.
