Privacy policy

CineDrive does not collect anything about you, because it does not talk to the internet at all. There is no account to create, and nothing in the app tracks you: no analytics code, and no advertising identifier. Your films are your own files, stored on your iPhone, and they stay there.
What we collect
Nothing. The app makes no network requests: not to us, not to an analytics service, not to fetch artwork or metadata, and not to check for anything. There is no server behind CineDrive for information to reach.
That is a design decision rather than a promise about how carefully we handle data, and it is the reason this policy is short. We cannot lose, sell or be compelled to hand over information we never receive.
No account, no sign-in
There is nothing to create and nothing to log into. We never ask for your name, your email address, or any other way of identifying you.
Your films
You add films from Files (including iCloud Drive, a USB drive or an SD reader) or from your Photos library. CineDrive copies the file into its own storage on the phone, so the film keeps working after the original is moved or deleted.
- Films, their posters and your viewing positions are stored in CineDrive's own container on your iPhone.
- They are protected by iOS file protection, readable only after the phone has been unlocked once since it was started.
- They are excluded from your iCloud backup. Films are large and you can re-import them, so backing them up would consume your iCloud storage for no benefit.
- Nothing about your films, including their names, is sent anywhere.
Photos and Files access
When you import from Photos, iOS asks your permission and CineDrive reads only what you pick. When you import from Files, you choose the files yourself through the system picker. CineDrive does not browse your library or your storage on its own.
Hidden films
A film you hide is kept out of the library grid, search, Continue watching and every CarPlay list, and it never appears on the car's screen. While a hidden film is playing, the Lock Screen and the car show “Private film” with no artwork. The Hidden screen opens only after Face ID, or your device passcode.
To be precise about what this is: hidden films sit in the same storage under the phone's own data protection. This is the privacy model of the Photos Hidden album. It keeps content off the screens other people can see. It is not a second layer of encryption, and it is not protection against someone who has your unlocked phone and your passcode.
CarPlay
When your iPhone is connected to a car, CarPlay displays the app. Playback and what is shown on the car's screen are handled on the phone by iOS. CineDrive sends nothing to the car maker, and receives nothing about you from the car.
Apple
If CineDrive is distributed through the App Store or TestFlight, Apple handles the download and any purchase, under Apple's own privacy policy. Apple may show us aggregate statistics about downloads. We never see your payment details, and those statistics say nothing about what you watch.
Children
CineDrive is not directed at children under 13, and since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from them either. What plays in the app is whatever film files an adult has added to the phone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update this page and change the date at the top. If CineDrive ever needed to make a network request, that would be a change to this policy and we would say so here before it shipped.
